Changes at Kings this Autumn

Posted on 14 Aug 2008 in the small hours

Coming soon... changes to the format of Sunday Mornings and a new Evening service!

Sunday Mornings

Sunday Morning

From Sunday 24 August we will be introducing a few changes to the format of our Sunday morning worship. The main change will to move the main block of worship to a place immediately after the sermon, with a much shorter time of worship at the start. This will mean the sermon coming earlier, more chance to respond to Scripture being read and preached and it will also mean that space for contributions will come later rather than earlier in the meeting. It will also mean that the children will leave earlier in the service and be out for a little longer.

Sunday Evenings

We are always looking for ways in which we can grow our Church life and over the past year our Sunday evening worship in the Riverside Café has been very well attended and full to capacity on a number of occasions. Since a bigger space is not available to us regularly, this gives us an opportunity to expand our range of services by adding a second, earlier, teaching-focussed service on Sunday evenings. The new service, 'Crux', will run from 6-7pm, with Bible teaching and worship. The second service, 'Connecting with God' (from 7.45-9.15pm), will follow the existing evening pattern with worship, teaching and time for response. Because access to Dunelm House is limited outside University term time we will, for the moment, continue to hold Sunday evening worship only during University term times. If you would like to be involved in the running of Crux let Mark Bonnington know.

Children's Worship

Starting in September we will also be introducing a regular 'Kids Worship' slot monthly on Sunday mornings straight after our opening worship. This will give the children an opportunity to learn some new songs (and perhaps some actions!) as well as worship and pray together before their usual activities. The first one will be on Sunday 14 September, thereafter they will be in the first Sunday or most months. Chris Juby will be heading up a team looking after this so please get in touch with him if you'd like to be involved.

Transition Time

This is an exciting but complicated time for us as we make changes to our regular programme. Please keep praying for wisdom and creativity for those involved and an extra measure of grace and patience during the transition, as there are sure to be a few kinks to straighten out along the way!
