June Project 2008

Posted on 6 May 2008 in the small hours

5 days of training and mission in Durham, 11-15 June. There are lots of ways to join in, even if you're not a delegate. DELEGATES - Thursday and Friday kick off 9.00am at The Appleby Rooms.

June Project 2008 - begins at lunchtime on Wednesday 11 June, and finishes on Sunday 15 June.

The June Project provides a focus to Kings mission and outreach activities throughout the year. We provide teaching and training and then lots of different activities for you to get your mission-teeth stuck into!

Get Involved - June Project Programme

What is this 'June Project'?

Last year we launched the June Project, a summer outreach celebration bringing together many aspects of Kings’ life and mission.

Inspired by the morning teaching each day, delegates braved the elements taking drama, first-contact evangelism, garden projects, barbershop singing, face-painting, sports, clowning and more to the streets of Durham. In the evenings we ran community events and gave people specific opportunities to respond to the good news.

See photos and the report from last year.

Training

The morning training sessions will equip and inspire us for the outreach programme. We're very excited to have Phil and Hayley Tate, who head up evangelism at Ichthus Christian Fellowship in London, joining us to input to the training programme. We will start each day with prayer and worship before looking at a range of subjects including: why we do mission, the relationship between social action and the gospel, and practical questions like ‘How do I talk about God to someone I don’t know?’

Outreach

We will be running all kinds of outreach projects, from street evangelism to social action, including:

  • Street Evangelism
    With flyers as conversation starters.
  • Street Performance
Music, circus skills, drama… what can you do?
  • Sports
    Various sports events.
  • Social Action
Projects linked in with our ongoing community work.
  • Prayer Teams
    Supporting all the outreach activities.
  • Community Events
Community BBQ, Fun Days, other events.
