Flass Vale Tree Planting

Posted by Stephen Light on 24 Mar 2006 in the small hours

On Sunday 19 March Kings joined together with the Friends of Flass Vale in a tree planting adventure...

Flass Vale Tree PlantingIf you have never been to Flass Vale then you have missed out on a beautiful and secret woodland in the heart of Durham. We visited the site where we planted trees last year and continued landscaping the area by planting three different varieties of tree; hawthorn and two sorts of cherry. It was great to see how the woodland is beginning to take shape. It is planned to create a grassland area full of wild flowers edged by a crescent of trees. Flass Vale Tree PlantingThere was a fantastic turnout and with so many people working together made it great fun. Almost a hundred trees were planted in an hour and just as many biscuits were consumed. (thanks Sian) A big thank you to everyone who came. If anyone wants to get involved in any of the community projects, garden makeovers or park fun days or just wants to know where Flass Vale is then please contact Stephen.
