Pressing In

Hello Everyone!

I'm going to give you the low-down on what happened this past week at the Ichthus Summer project...!

All of us did set-up for church on the Sunday morning (what keen beans and wonderful, efficient and dedicated interns we are!) and then drove down to London. We arrived a bit late and most of us were exhausted, but we were thrown into talking about what we wanted to see God do this week which immediately made us focus.

Ichthus are very very good at encouraging an attitude of "pressing in" to God - keeping going, even when you're exhausted. We were encouraged to be continually asking for more of God and his Holy Spirit, so that's what we did. Seeking the Lord and trying to hear his voice was not always easy this past week, but it most definitely produced fruit in all of us as individuals, but also to the people in the areas of London that we were working in. Most of us saw an increase in the use of the prophetic, in ourselves or in others, or in receiving a word or picture and taking it on board.

Most days consisted of a devotional time and worship at the beginning of the day, 3 hours of lectures, grabbing lunch and jumping in a car or minibus and then working in an area of London until the evening.

There were three teams of Ichthus Projectors in three different areas of London:

Erith and Belvedere: Sammy, Tim D, Elena and Christina
Jubilee (Charlton): Joy and Robyn
Lee Green: Lucy, Tim M and Nicola

All three groups had completely different experiences, but I know that across the board - we were all surprised by what God can achieve through willing people who seek him.

I was part of the Jubilee team, an incredibly multicultural bunch: Two Swiss-Germans, A German, Two Norwegians, Three Rad-nets, Two Durhamites, One girl from Forest Hill and a number from the congregation of New Life Church in Greenwich who had a heart for the estate in Charlton we were working in. The estate desperately needs light and freedom to break through, hence why the project was named "Jubilee". It was incredible to work in a place with such a strong sense of community and to see how the work of the "Jubilee" team over the past few years has "made the ground soft" (to use a very over-used metaphor...!). Relationships between those who were Christians and those who really needed help were strong, and the testimonies of some people who had become Christians and live on the estate were really moving and encouraging.

We met some wonderful people on the estate and saw some wonderful things happen in their lives. I prayed for a man for healing from swelling in his right foot, and God healed him! I felt his foot decrease in size beneath my hands! I was more shocked at this happening than he was! Some people prayed with others and saw them set free in their mindsets from fear, from depression and given them restored hope. Some teams saw people re-commit or commit for the first time their lives to Jesus and say "I believe". We were astounded, once again, by the transforming power of God - the new life and the hope that only He can bring.

We reached people through a wide range of events, coffee mornings, door-knocking, fun-days, football matches, basketball matches, kids clubs, singing prophetic songs on stages at 10 year anniversaries of estates (oh yes...!), reading the Bible aloud, worship on the streets, bless your business schemes, youth evenings and much more!

Although we have returned to Durham sleepy, (especially after another disaster with silly sat-navs on the way home and driving through the majority of the centre of London...! It was quite exciting driving past MI6 and other big landmarks, but being cut up by red buses and other irritating vehicles was not the most pleasant of experiences...) our time there was completely invaluable to us and I am incredibly grateful to have been a part of it. I hope and pray that we will remember and store the memories of this past week in our hearts and that our faith will continue to grow as a result of the incredible things we've seen God do this week!

Thank you for your prayers!!

Our God is a GREAT BIG GOD! ( I did too much kids work this week...)

Love Robyn
