‘I wandered lonely as a cloud…When all at once I saw a crowd, a host of golden daffodils’

These past two weeks we have all become more deeply engaged with some of our favourite films. Each intern has had the task of doing a short presentation as to how their chosen film could be used to reach people with the gospel. It has been brilliant to realise how biblical values are woven into every film, reminding us that all humans are made in God’s image and are marked with his imprint. One thing I learnt through preparing mine on ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ is that in India, the colour yellow represents new beginnings– a hopeful thought as we start to see the bright daffodils emerging and look forward to Easter.

We’ve been doing exactly that at Aquila this week – Jenny made Easter eggs with a 2 year old and his mum - resulting in her getting into the car covered in little chocolatey hand-prints! Meanwhile, I was making Easter baskets out of cardboard and chocolate crispy cakes with mini eggs on top. The girls made one for each of the staff, demonstrating their appreciation.

The Christian groups at Durham Johnston continue to flourish – in the younger one we’ve been discussing the meaning of Easter and what it means to believe in Jesus. Today their questions centered around what sort of bodies we’ll have in heaven and whether we’d feel pain. It’s a privilege to be sharing a message of such joy and hope to people so open to it

On a similar evangelistic theme….

Guest Pastorate took place for the Hill colleges last week, in which Jon Castling spoke about where we find our worth. In addition, it included video clips interviewing people on what they think Love is, a drama and some beautiful songs performed. The response to the evening was positive as it prompted many to explore the Christian faith further.

On Friday the team went out to the Market Place with boards where people could write out prayers on post-it notes. At first we were slightly sceptical as to whether anyone would want to do this, but it proved incredibly fruitful. Many people were keen to write prayers – at one point there was even a queue! We found it really exciting as discussions were generally very open, since by its very nature prayer is so personal.

Finally, we have been looking forward to our Mission trip to Angers in France next week. Dictionaries, Euros, travel insurance and gifts to bestow upon our hosts are currently being acquired

We’d love your prayers for:

  • Our Mission trip to France
  • That we’d be a blessing to the church there and to those we reach out to.
  • For God’s strength and protection.
  • Praise God that Alpha is continuing to go well – please pray for the final session and that those who have become Christians would be well supported.
  • Please pray that students would be able to rest this holiday and not spend it all revising but keep the right perspective.

‘…let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice. Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always. Remember the wonders he has done…’ Psalm 105

Thank you!! Massive Blessings,

Lou
