Sunshine and Speedy Meetings
Sunshine and Speedy Meetings
I hope that everyone is enjoying the sunshine; it feels as though summer is upon us already! After an enjoyable and challenging few days at Formation last week, things have returned to normality for a couple of weeks before we head off to France on the 23rd.
Friday saw the team split into their respective teams for outreach. The Gilesgate crew ran another coffee morning for the residents of McNally place, which was well attended and good fun. The Newton Hall gang went out to visit various people, blessing them with flowers and conversations.
Later on, the After Hours team managed to attract a small horde of Folk festival gatherers, who would appear again on Sunday morning with some interesting consequences for the morning service! For those who weren’t around, the service had to be shortened to 45 minutes to allow the festival to go ahead, meaning that the Appleby Rooms’ capacity was well and truly tested for after-church refreshments. This also meant that the Church record for pack-down after the service was dramatically broken, taking only 11 minutes!
This weekend also saw the Alpha Away-Day take place. We took a group of about 18 people to the Durham Centre where Emmanuel Church usually meets, and looked at the Holy Spirit, what it is and does, how we might be filled with it, and at how God can guide us to make the most of our lives. The day went really well, so thank you to all those who have been remembering it in your prayers, as God was really at work.
Monday night was the night of the Interact International meal, where about 35 students attended and enjoyed Andy Nunn’s special recipe, Toad in the Hole. It was great to see so many come and to be a part of it. Prison work and Aquilla projects happened as usual on the Monday afternoon, with various Christian Union groups and school projects continuing on the Tuesday and Wednesday.
- Please pray for us in our preparations for the France mission trip, as it is quickly approaching.
- Also, pray for the big Church event on Friday night – Parannoyance .
- Please continue to be praying for Alpha, which has only a couple of weeks left, and for the students particularly as deadlines and exams approach.
God bless
Andy
