Peskies Park Transformation

The transformation of Peskies Park began on 14th 2005 May when between 40 and 50 people turned out to help. There was a wonderful atmosphere of community spirit as people worked to clear rubbish, paint the play equipment and to tame the encroaching undergrowth. This was an opportunity for everybody to work together and to get to know one another. Students and locals, young and old took part and enjoyed themselves in the process of improving this little park. The City Council provided support through the Community Development team and by providing all necessary advice and equipment, and a photographer from their publicity department. The Paint was supplied by a community paint recycling project, ensuring that the impact on the environment was minimised (details can be found at www.communityrepaint.org.uk). So it was a hard day’s work, but enjoyable and productive. It certainly helped to build our sense of community in Crossgate Village, and we hope to hold similar events in the future.
