Peskies Park Transformation 2
Peskies Park revisited took place in October 2005, continuing with the project started in May, but this time the team linked up with Neville’s Cross Primary school as well as the local Resident’s group. The main event of the day was to plant a ‘Living Willow Play Sculpture’. Local artist Jo-Anne Bolton helped lead the workshop on how to weave with living willow. The aim was to create a winding play tunnel for children that whilst fun would also highlight the use of natural and sustainable. Durham City Council donated a few hundred daffodil bulbs and the planting of these was led by the children.
The day was completed with a barbeque and everyone admiring all that had been achieved to transform the park from a graffiti painted and rubbish strewn space, into a great community park.
