Flass Vale Tree Planting

April 05, with the Friends of Flass Vale

Flass Vale Tree Planting

Since 2005 King’s Church has worked alongside the Friends of Flass Vale in protecting the local environment and the heritage of our woodland and wildlife though tree planting and clearing scrubland. Flass Vale is a beautiful and secret woodland in the heart of Durham. We have just re-visited the site where we planted trees last year and continued landscaping the area by planting hawthorn trees and two sorts of cherry tree.

It was great to see how the woodland is beginning to take shape. It is planned that over the next few years a grassland area, full of wild flowers, edged by a crescent of trees will be created.

There was a fantastic turnout and with so many people working together it was great fun. Almost a hundred trees were planted in an hour and the work done with the Friends of Flass Vale is making a real difference to the community and environment.
