Crossgate Cleanup 2007
May 2007, with Crossgate Village Community Group
Kings students and residents have been out and about serving the Crossgate community. Read Poppy's report.

Last month King's Church worked in partnership with the Crossgate Community Group to clean up the Crossgate area. We covered Peskies Park, Lawson Terrace Community Garden, Tulip Gardens and part of the Neville’s Cross Battlement walk.
Armed with litter pickers and gloves provided by the city’s team of neighbourhood wardens, the group of over thirty students and residents collected over twenty bags of rubbish, which were collected by the council’s refuse staff.
Mike Costello, chair of the Crossgate Community Group, said, "We are really pleased with how the action day has gone. We wanted to organise something which would help improve the local environment and build community support, and I think it has been a huge success."

The day ended brilliantly when everyone involved was rewarded with a Barbeque in Peskies Park!
Abigail Knowles, a student at Durham University and a member of Kings said, "I really enjoyed the day, it was good to give something back to the community and to get to know some of the local residents."
We are now working with the Crossgate Community Group to organise a fun day to be held in Peskies Park on June 16th, where there will be activities including games, a competition and a barbeque!
