It was our Christmas Outreach Project on Saturday and a team of volunteers braved the rain to engage in some Christmas-themed creative outreach. We asked people the question "What do you need most this Christmas?" and they threw a plastic ball into the box representing their answer from a list of choices: "Peace, Presents, Health or Hope". We used this as a conversation starter and invited many people to our Carol Services the next day.
Despite lots and lots of rain, we had a large team of volunteers who made a great indoor event possible for our local community on the Sherburn Road Estate. Lots of faces were painted, toy frogs were created, Jesus was debated and games appreciated. Bring on the next one.
As part of November's Outreach Project a few of us took to the soggy streets of Newton Hall to invite people to the Soup and Light Cafe. We also handed out free sparklers to continue on the theme of Jesus being the light of the world. We bought some smiles to people's faces and hopefully some light to an otherwise grey day.
