Mark studied Maths and then Theology before moving to Durham in 1995. He has taught New Testament in Durham and Leeds and been Senior Leader at King’s since 2001. He is married to Ruth, a GP in Gateshead, and their three children are around University age. In his spare time he builds stuff and swims.
Ian studied Applied Physics and Electronics at Durham before training as a Chartered Accountant. He works for an engineering company in Cramlington, and is married to Tina, a teacher. They have two sons.
Katherine is a Durham theology graduate, who joined the leadership team in 2007. She has worked for many years as an RE teacher and school chaplain but joined our staff team in 2010 and co-ordinates our pastoral ministries and the Ministry Training Programme. She is married to Seymour, who can be heard playing harmonicas or whistles in worship or ceilidh bands!
Christiana is a Durham graduate and married to Alan. They have three grown-up children. She works with children learning English as an additional language and particularly loves anyone who is not English!
Community and Intership Coordinator
Becca came to Durham as an undergraduate in 2002. With a background in the Civil Service, she joined the King's staff team in 2012. Becca is married to Sammy, who works for Durham County Council. She also loves playing netball, organising things, going on exciting adventures with friends, and building community in her neighbourhood.
Worship, Media and Arts
Chris moved to Durham to work for Kings in 2005. He led student ministry for several years and is now responsible for worship, media and developing the Arts. He is the author of the the Twitter Bible Summary and released an EP of worship songs in 2014. Chris is married to Hannah and they have two young sons.
Training and Development Coordinator
Tom served for five years as the youth and young adults pastor of an inner-city church in Los Angeles before moving to Durham in 2009 to pursue a PhD in Old Testament theology. During his studies he met a former Kings intern named Catherine and they got married! He recently completed his studies and is sticking around Durham to do some work with Kings.
Student Work Coordinator
Chris is a Durham graduate and completed our Ministry Trainee year 2011-12. He is currently studying an MA at Cranmer Hall in Theology and Ministry alongside his work at Kings. Chris is married to Rachel, a primary school teacher.
Nick came to Durham as an undergraduate in 2005. He loves sport, travelling, coffee and international mission. Since graduating, he has taught English overseas, taught Maths in schools in the UK and he is currently teaching English to Japanese students at Teikyo University in Durham alongside his finance work at Kings.
Student Worker and Evangelism Coordinator
Alys came to Durham in 2010 to study Physics and Philosophy at Collingwood College before completing the Internship and Ministry Trainee Programme. Alongside her work at Kings she is currently studying for an MA in Theology and Ministry at Cranmer Hall, and enjoys baking, coffee shops and being geeky.
Youth and Children's Ministry Coordinator
Fay is a graduate of Durham University where she studied geography. After completing our Internship and Ministry Training years, she is now on the staff team. She lives in the Achor Community and recently completed an MA in Community and Youth Work.
Having completed our 2008-09 Internship year, Tim was on the Kings staff until 2014. He is now a full-time prison chaplain and an associate staff member at Kings. Tim is married to Caroline and they have a baby son.
Ruth was on staff at Kings 2006 to 2013 and continues as an asscoiate staff member. She has an MA in Theology and Ministry and is working on a PhD, studying how 'Generation Y' read the Bible. She has over 15 years of experience in mission, discipleship and Bible teaching. She enjoys movies, gardening, loves travelling and writes the Cloud of Witnessses website.
Claire graduated from Durham University in 2004 in Geography and Environmental Management. She currently volunteers four days a week at Kings, with a focus on mission, evangelism and community. Claire is married to Tim, who can regularly be seen on PA or playing the drums at Kings. She enjoys wildlife and countryside walks and anything turquoise in colour!
Originally from Norwich, Sophie went to Durham in 2012 to study Geography. Over her three years of being a student, she fell in love with the beautiful city of Durham and decided to stay to do the King’s Internship. She is now a Ministry Trainee specializing in Student Ministry and Youth Work and is really looking forward to seeing God work in the lives of the young people and students she will spend time with over the year.
Sierra only arrived in Durham in the September 2015 for the King's Internship, but is well pleased to have the opportunity to remain for at least another year, this time serving as a Ministry Trainee in the areas of Kids Work and Project Management. Though originally from the States (specifically North Carolina), she consumes tea like a Briton and delights in a ceilidh as often as possible.
Hailing from the wonderful Croydon, Jack has lived in Durham for 5 years, studying physics and then interning at Kings. This year he is delighted to be a Ministry Trainee serving international students and preaching. Jack also enjoys volleyball, board games and eating leftovers.
